I am a fully qualified and insured sports massage practitioner. I have trained for 2 years, completing over 50,000 words in case studies and have traveled to Bristol for practical training at a rescue centre. I then went to Norfolk for a practical and written exam over 6 years ago for equine holistic training and therapy. I cover sports massage and also holistic massage, which is great to help relax the horse before working with deep tissue and muscles. Prior to taking the equine route, I gained a diploma in small animal care and have also studied to qualify as a human sports practitioner; and many, many, many years ago gained an NVQ in horse and stud management.
Most recently, I qualified as a Myotherapy Practitioner for canines after 2 years of studying.
For the last 6 years, I have been working on a wide range of horses from top competition to happy hackers and retired family friends, having slowly built up my business with returning customers. I love what I do and love seeing the horses enjoy it, and the difference it makes.
I have been around horses since the age of 4 (no need to mention how long ago that was!). At a young age, I competed in show jumping (at scary heights when I think of it now). These days, I enjoy dressage with my mare Madam Mimm, whom I have owned for 8 years and she has bred me an amazing foal, Mimbagos Malakai. Not forgetting my lovely 4 year old Nancarrow Apache, a solid coloured Appaloosa. All 3 enjoy regular treatments, and as I have owned them for some time, we do start to notice when something is not right.
I enjoy my job so much that I feel it isn't a job. Granted, I do have to make a living but as an owner I appreciate how expensive it is. However, I really want every horse to feel comfortable and be at their best, and this does mean regular treatments. I do try to keep prices fair and encourage people to get a few yard friends to join the day to keep costs down.
