Canine Wound Healing Protocol Yorkshire Pooches Therapies

At Photizo, we are so lucky to work alongside fantastic specialists who are absolute whizzes in their fields. Yaz from Yorkshire Pooches is one of them, a canine massage therapist and pain expert based in west Yorkshire, Yaz uses Photizo every day in her practice and swears by the Vetcare device.

When it comes to wound care, fast, efficient relief is vital, and having a system in place for treating your pet’s wounds is a valuable way to reduce the likelihood of infection.

Yaz has created just that- a fantastic three step protocol to give pets the effective, speedy recovery that they deserve. With Yaz’s permission, we are delighted to share Dorian’s story and encourage you to explore her full write-up and follow her work.

Dorian

Dorian, a Doberman with an amputated left hind leg, still lives an active, full life. However, when a sore appeared on his left front leg, fast treatment was needed to get him back up on his paws.

Why Photizo?

Yaz has used Photizo in her clinic from the very beginning, and her confidence in the device shines through.

As she explains, Photizo Vetcare is “simple-to-use and was developed for pet and animal owners to use at home to treat pain caused by a range of underlying health conditions as well as wounds.”

Photizo uses Red and Near-Infrared light to support the body’s natural healing response at a cellular level, helping to speed up repair while offering drug-free pain relief.

Dorian’s Wound Healing Protocol

Yaz’s approach focused on supporting healing from the inside out, rather than simply closing the surface of the skin.

Step 1: Leucillin

The wound was flushed and cleaned daily using Leucillin- an antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal spray. As Yaz notes, it works with the body’s own immune system, using hypochlorous, a substance naturally produced by white blood cells.

Step 2: Photizo Vetcare

Photizo was held around “1 inch away from the wound, with 3 doses applied daily,” alongside Dorian’s normal Photizo routine. Each dose delivers both Red (633nm) and Near-Infrared (850nm) wavelengths simultaneously to support healing on a cellular level.

Step 3: French Green Clay

Applied daily to help draw out impurities and create a natural antibacterial barrier.

The Results

Over just 12 days, Yaz documented the wound healing process step by step, and the results speak for themselves.

Dorian’s sore healed fully within that time, which is particularly significant for an amputee dog who “doesn’t have the ability to ‘not’ use his LFL.”

As Yaz explains, ongoing monitoring is essential, as changes in weight-bearing can place pressure on new areas of the foot. Her goal with wound care is always to “promote healing from the wound bed up,” avoiding premature closure that could trap infection beneath the skin.
